The Amateur Radio Transmitting Society is Louisville’s oldest ham radio club, founded in Nov 1927.
We welcome all radio amateurs from the newest technician to the most seasoned extra class, and those interested in becoming a licensed Amateur Radio Operator.  We encourage membership in ARRL and acknowledge the amateur radio operator’s responsibility to the public by providing emergency communications, encouraging members to improve their communication and technical skills, and by fostering international good will.  We invite amateurs with strong interests in specific areas of Ham Radio to join ARTS and promote their special interests.

Some of our activities include/have included providing communications for local events such as the Derby Breakfast at Farmington held on Derby day, the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure bike ride, other charity bike rides and events, the US Islands QSO Party, our Dayton Hamvention Bus Trip, and Special Event Stations.  We hold regular 2 Meter analog FM, digital C4FM, and SSB Nets and participate in the ARRL’s annual Field Day on the 4th full weekend in June, the WFDA’s Winter Field Day on the last full weekend in January, and we have a booth at the Greater Louisville Hamfest held every September.  Several members participate in a weekly breakfast get-together, and we have one or more Club Dinners throughout the year.  At our December club meeting, we also have a HAM Radio Items Gift Exchange.

All this in addition to our regular monthly meetings which include an informative program about various topics of ham radio.

The Amateur Radio Transmitting Society ARTS has been affiliated with the American Radio Relay League since Feb 1st 1935 and is an ARRL Special Service Club.

ARTS is a non-profit organization.
